How Washington DC Spray Foam Insulation Works

Washington DC Spray Foam Insulation seals and insulates rowhouses, single-family homes and additions across the District and the close-in Maryland and Virginia suburbs. We spray closed-cell and open-cell foam, blow in cellulose and fiberglass, dense-pack walls and remove old insulation that is damaged or in the way.

The housing here is old and varied. Rowhouses from after the Civil War line Capitol Hill, Petworth and Shaw; Georgetown has houses older than the city itself; Takoma Park and Hyattsville have Victorians and Sears bungalows; the suburbs filled in with brick colonials and ramblers after World War II. Each needs a different approach, and the climate pulls in two directions: hot, humid summers and cold winter nights.

What a visit covers

We look at the attic or roof cavity, the basement or crawl space, and any walls you are concerned about. We measure what is there, note the condition, and look for the leaks that matter: top plates, chases, recessed lights, the rim joist and the gaps around old chimneys. We also look for moisture problems, because sealing a house that has a leak or a wet basement only traps the water.

How we work

  • Inspect before pricing. Every quote follows a visit.
  • Line by line. Each area gets its own material, thickness, R-value and price.
  • Seal, then insulate. Air leaks are closed before insulation covers them.
  • Match the material to the space. Closed-cell, open-cell or loose fill, depending on the surface and how moisture moves through it.
  • Respect old houses. We work carefully around plaster, trim and historic features, and flag anything that may need a permit or historic review.
  • No surprise changes. Changes to the scope are agreed in writing first.
